MARCEL PROUST, LA FABRIQUE DE L'OEUVRE

The exhibition has two strong narrative intentions. On the one hand, the visitor discovers the work «À la recherche du temps perdu», and on the other hand, he or she is shown the writing process. Based on the time of the narrative and the time of writing, evoking a double temporality as well as the cyclical construction of the novel, we have imagined the creation of a radiating circular path. Following the time of the narrative, the volumes of the novel develop in quarters around a central circle

representing the "book factory", the time of writing.

The central circle symbolises the monumental factory of the work. The visitor discovers a monumental 360° projection representing Proust's handwriting and the stages in the production of an emblematic text.

It is hidden and revealed as the tour progresses. Successive layers, like so many pages or fabrics to create a "dress", show the visitor the time of writing through an illustrated chronology recounting historical facts, meetings, friendships and journeys that contributed to the development of La Recherche.

L’exposition propose deux intentions narratives fortes. D’une part le visiteur découvre l’oeuvre «À la recherche du temps perdu», et d’autre part, il lui est donné à voir le processus d’écriture. A partir de ces temps du récit et temps de l’écriture, évoquant une double temporalité ainsi que la construction cyclique du roman, nous avons imaginé la création d’un parcours circulaire rayonnant. Suivant le temps de la narration, les tomes du roman se développent en quartiers autour d’un cercle central

représentant la «fabrique du livre », le temps de l’écriture.

Le cercle central symbolise la fabrique monumentale de l’oeuvre. Le visiteur y découvre une projection monumentale à 360° représentant la graphie de Proust et les étapes de la fabrique d’un texte emblématique.

Il se voile et se dévoile au fur et à mesure du parcours. Des couches successives comme autant de pages ou de tissus pour créer une « robe », donnent à voir au visiteur le temps de l’écriture à travers une chronologie illustrée relatant des faits historiques, des rencontres, des amitiés, des voyages ayant participé à l’élaboration de la Recherche.
