ABC DUCHAMP

Duchamp’s works are distributed throughout the galleries, appearing at first glance to be objects placed at random. Visitors have the opportunity to gain an overall understanding of the artist’s work before moving on to more specific pieces. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs intermingle through a rigorous interplay of scales, variations in height, transparencies, and colors. The three-dimensional works are highlighted at times by colorful photographic backgrounds, podiums draped in fabric, or a raised floor or mirrored surface, which also subtly serve to create distance for the fragile works.

Les œuvres de Duchamp sont réparties dans les salles, donnant à première vue l’apparence d’objets posés aléatoirement. Le visiteur a la possibilité d’appréhender globalement le travail de l’artiste pour ensuite se diriger vers des contenus plus spécifiques. Les peintures, sculptures, photographies, se mêlent entre elles à travers un jeu rigoureux d’échelles, de variations de hauteur, de transparences, et de couleurs. Les œuvres en 3 dimensions sont mises en relief tantôt par des fonds photographiques colorés, des podiums drapés de tissu, un sol soulevé ou reflété par du miroir, servant aussi subtilement de mise à distance pour les œuvres fragiles.
